AcidBox, Sequencer GUI AcidBox, Keyboard GUI

Demos:

Description:

Acid Box is a virtual realtime Bass Line Synthesizer created and maintained by Audio Blast. It's a recreation Roland's famous 303 Bass Line Synth, but with additional features and capabilities. The demo version can be downloaded (see link below) and installed for trial use, with some limitations, such as limited pattern availability, no pattern recall and some occasional quacking ducks. It is available as both a standalone application and as a VST plugin. The audio demos above are some sweepings of the synth's filter cutoff point at different resonance and filter envelope-depth settings.

Acid Box is both a monophonic synthesizer and a 64-step sequencer. It can be played using the midi keyboard (by selecting 'midi-in' near the tempo box at top right) or as a sequencer (by selecting internal or host sync). There is a section with 32 slots for pattern insertion, with full loading and saving capability that allows for realtime on-the-fly pattern switching. The Sequencer section provides a variety of options for controlling pattern size and triggering modes, note input, note accent and glide, etc. A tool bar at the bottom of the GUI allows control of sequence/pattern copy and paste, various types of randomizing, and note shift and transposition.

Acid Box's oscillator section allows for selection of either a saw or a square wave. Filter cutoff and resonance controls are provided, as well as filter envelope depth. The filter knob above the oscillator allows for a low-pass filter (knob set to left) and a high-pass filter (knob to right). Three additional controls will modify the sequencer notes: Accent, Gate and Groove. Lastly, there is a distortion section with 4 different distortion types (overdrive, clipper, valve, cruncher) and a delay section with sync and ping-pong delay options.

A manual is also included with Acid Box, which provides additional useful control tips.
