Hexter opening GUI Hexter edit page, widgy Hexter edit page, retro

Demos:

Description:

Hexter is a DX7 synth emulator developed by Sean Bolton. It is a realtime, polyphonic/monophonic, synthesizer that can import the SysEx sound files directly from the classic Yamaha DX7 synthesizer. Output is mono. This lastest version shown below is version 1.0.2, which allows an entire patch edit interface, which can be displayed in two styles: "Widgy" or "Retro."

Hexter can run within most DAW hosts as well as standalone, using jack-dssi-host (jack-dssi-host /usr/lib/dssi/hexter.so) or Ghostess (ghostess hexter.so), which are both available in most repositories.

Patches:

A whole slew of patches, available at Dave Benson's DX7 page, can be imported to both Dexed and Hexter, available HERE. --In particular, download the "DX7EXTRA.zip" "all-syx.zip" and "deckard.zip" packages, and "dx7.zip" which is found by clicking the "zicweb" link.
