Synthesis Technologies, home of MOTM (Mother Of The Modules), is also home to a free, open source, cross-platform application called WaveEdit. While not a synthesizer, WaveEdit, created as a wavetable and bank editor for Synthesis Technology's E370 Quad Morphing VCO and E352 Cloud Terrarium VCO Eurorack Synthesizer modules, is also a very useful tool for making loadable .wav files for samplers and sample-based synths such as Samplv1, Borderlands, Petri-Foo, Soundgrain and SpectMorph. It must be used with Alsa audio, Jack audio support is not currently provided.
At installation, WaveEdit provides a collection of banks of wavetables which can be selected individually, modified and saved as .wav files. Editing of individual waves can be done by both drawing using the drawing tools provided, as well as adjusting the individual harmonics in the Harmonics window. In addition, a host of effects are provided which can also be applied to the wave shape, such as ring modulation, phase shift and quantization.
